In medical imaging, such parameters are crucial for distinguishing healthy from pathological tissues through their mechanical, acoustic, or transport properties. Comparable issues arise in materials science, where non-invasive imaging aims at recovering effective constitutive parameters, detecting defects or damage, and characterizing complex heterogeneous or composite media.
