These structures provide powerful tools for analysis, including the study of well-posedness, the trend to equilibrium, and the structure-preserving numerical schemes.<br \/>\nThis mini-symposium will highlight recent advances in variational approaches to non-equilibrium PDEs with the focus on kinetic models from classical kinetic theory and wave turbulence theory.
