Periodic media possess a wide range of fascinating properties regarding wave propagation. Interesting is the analysis of wave equations in unbounded periodic media, let it be in wave-guide geometries or in full space, radiation conditions and domain truncation methods become relevant. On the other hand, homogenization methods can be applied to the wave equation, the Helmholtz equation or Maxwell’s equations and provide interesting limiting behavior of small structures. In this mini-symposium, we want to include: limiting behavior, analysis of numerical schemes, boundary conditions, and homogenization.
